TotalBond Veterinary Hospital at Bethel

Accreditations & Certifications

We are proud to be AAHA-Accredited, certified in Low-Stress Handling, and have team members who are Fear Free Certified.

AAHA Accreditation

At TotalBond Veterinary Hospital at Bethel, we pride ourselves on excellence, so it should be no surprise that we’re AAHA accredited. This honor from the American Animal Hospital Association is awarded to fewer than 15% of veterinary practices and signifies that we’ve proven our excellence in all that we do.

Our insistence on outperforming even the industry standard is all part of the TotalBond way. Relationships make the difference when separating the average veterinary clinics from the superior ones. When we serve the community, we know that your trust means the world.

But we also know that it takes constant work and improvement to continue to lead among veterinary practices, which is why we’re also pioneering cutting-edge technology and treatments. Our commitment to you and your pet’s well-being extends far beyond our accreditation.

Fear Free Certification

At TotalBond Veterinary Hospital at Bethel, we value the wellbeing of your pet’s emotional state to the same degree as their physical state. For this reason, many of our staff members have taken extra steps to earn Fear Free Certification

The unfamiliar sounds, smells, and people that come with the experience of a veterinary visit can be a source of great stress to your pet. This is a normal reaction in pets, but it doesn’t need to be this way! At TotalBond Veterinary Hospital at Bethel, we aim to transform the experience your pet has with us during their visits to our facility by providing continuing education and training to our doctors and staff on gentle handling techniques and emotional responses in pets, so they can easily identify even the smallest signs of fear, stress, and anxiety. This allows us to provide pets with an enriching, warm, and safe space.

The courses to become a Fear Free Certified practice are crafted by experts in the veterinary field: distinguished veterinarians, board-certified veterinary behaviorists, anesthesiologists, internists, pain experts, and experts in animal training, grooming, boarding, and shelter medicine. At TotalBond Veterinary Hospital at Bethel, we are proud to learn from the best and share that knowledge with our clients and patients.

Low Stress Handling Certification

We understand it can be a stressful time for your pet to visit the vet. At TotalBond Veterinary Hospital at Bethel, we want your pets to love seeing us! Our staff have been trained exclusively in low-stress handling techniques. This type of practice creates the ability for not only a low-stress hospital environment, but handling animals with a low-stress demeanor as well. Low-stress handling improves the tools used, the hospital’s design in preparing for a client to visit, and hands-on skills it takes to promote a positive veterinary experience.

Low-stress handling takes quite a few factors into consideration. For example, certain sights, sounds, and smells can trigger a stress response in pets. Did you know shiny surfaces can be one of these triggers for some pets? Reading your pet’s body language is another example, and perhaps one of the main indicators your pet is in distress. Our team is trained to acknowledge these triggers and behaviors, so that we help to create a safe, calm, and more secure environment for your pets.

*Please be aware that for dogs we incentivize and distract by using peanut butter in many of our appointments. If your pet has a peanut allergy, please let us know ahead of time.
